Central Asian Culture and Art Days held at Berlin’s historic Schöneberg City Hall

BERLIN, April 3. /Dunyo IA/. In the City Hall of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district of the German capital, diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries, together with the cultural organization “Cultur-Cooperation e.V.”, held the Days of Culture and Art, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event brought together representatives of official and business circles of the host country, the diplomatic corps accredited in Berlin, as well as the general public, compatriots, and journalists.
Among the guests of honor, alongside the ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, were Matthias Vollert, Head of Division for the Southern Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Eastern Partnership at the Federal Foreign Ministry of Germany; Mathias Steuckardt, Deputy Mayor of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district and Michael Borchmann, former Head of the European Affairs and International Cooperation Department at the State Chancellery of the Federal State of Hesse.
In their speeches, they emphasized that shared values and traditions bring nations closer together, and that holding such joint events helps strengthen friendly ties between countries and allows the German public to become more widely acquainted with the region's rich culture.
Uzbekistan’s national stand, decorated in a traditional style, drew great interest from visitors. Guests were presented with national costumes, samples of suzani, atlas and adras fabrics, folk crafts, as well as information materials about the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential. Visitors received detailed information about the ancient history, rich culture and traditions of the Uzbek people.
Creative groups from the region's countries presented concert programs. The performances by the “Drujba Narodov” (Friendship of Peoples) ensemble from Uzbekistan, featuring national songs and dances, made a special impression on the guests. Participants were also offered traditional spring dishes, including plov.
A quiz dedicated to the national traditions of the region's countries drew great interest. Winners were presented with memorable souvenirs.
Mathias Steuckardt, Deputy Mayor of the Berlin district, noted that holding the event in the City Hall was a significant occurrence. According to him, such cultural presentations bring together people of different nationalities and cultures, which is especially important for a district home to representatives of various nations and religions. He emphasized that events like this serve as a platform for dialogue, strengthening mutual understanding, and discovering the cultures of other countries.
