NEW DELHI, March 17. /Dunyo/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in India, whose consular district includes the Republic of Maldives, has successfully completed the repatriation of Uzbek citizen U.Sh., who found himself in a difficult situation while working abroad, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Thanks to the prompt actions of the diplomatic mission, the citizen received comprehensive consular and legal assistance. In particular, embassy officials held negotiations with local authorities to resolve the citizen’s legal status and organize his departure from the Maldives.
On March 15, the citizen was safely returned to Uzbekistan.
In this regard, the Embassy strongly urges Uzbek citizens planning or currently working abroad (including in India and the Maldives) to strictly follow these rules:
- Work only under an official employment contract and valid work visa.
- Familiarize themselves in advance with the labor legislation and residency regulations of the host country.
- Register with the consular office upon arrival abroad, which significantly facilitates assistance in emergency situations.
- Never hand over original passports or other identity documents to employers or third parties for “safekeeping.”
In case of emergencies, violations of personal rights, or the need for consultation, the Embassy requests immediate contact with the Consular Section of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in New Delhi.
