NEW DELHI, December 18. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Uzbekistan is taking part in the Second Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, convened under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO), which has officially opened in New Delhi, the capital of India, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Uzbek mission comprises diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi, alongside representatives of the country’s leading pharmaceutical and medical companies.

The forum, jointly organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), has emerged as a significant international platform for examining ways to integrate centuries-old traditions of indigenous and traditional medicine into contemporary healthcare standards.

The expert community has focused on several core priorities, including the development of a robust evidence base for traditional medicine, ensuring the safety and high quality of herbal medicinal products, and safeguarding biodiversity and intellectual property rights, among other key issues.

This high-level dialogue underscores the growing global recognition of traditional medicine as a complementary component of resilient and inclusive health systems, aligned with WHO strategies and international best practice.

The Uzbek side placed particular emphasis on deepening bilateral cooperation with India. On the margins of the summit, the delegation held a series of high-level discussions with the leadership of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India as well as with specialised expert and research centres in the field of traditional medicine.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached agreements on joint specialist training programmes, the enhancement of product quality control processes, and the intensification of cooperation in medical services and rehabilitation.

The strong interest shown by international partners in Uzbekistan’s private sector highlighted the country’s substantial export and investment potential, underscoring the competitiveness of its domestic businesses on the global stage.

The outcome of the meetings reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to adopting advanced international practices, including India’s extensive experience in traditional medicine, aimed at strengthening the national healthcare system and expanding public access to safe and effective wellness methods.

The participation of the Uzbek delegation in the summit marked a significant step toward enhancing international dialogue and developing practical cooperation in the field of traditional medicine.
