BAKU, March 17. /Dunyo IA/. An exhibition titled “The Birth of Suzani” has opened at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art in Baku, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was organized by the “Hunarmand” Association in collaboration with the renowned suzani embroidery master Madina Kasimbaeva and art historian Binafsha Nodir.
The official opening was attended by Saadat Yusifova, Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan; Members of Parliament Ganira Efendiyeva, Hijran Huseynova and Nigar Mammadova; Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation; as well as numerous figures from the fields of science and the arts.
At the exhibition, visitors were able to witness the complex and painstaking process of creating suzani - from the preparation and dyeing of threads to transferring the pattern onto the fabric - as well as the magic of patterns coming to life under the master's hand. It was noted that the art of suzani embroidery comprises several schools, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Shakhrisabz and others, each of which preserves the history, nature and way of life of the people through its unique symbols.
The event also received wide coverage in the national media of Azerbaijan, specifically on the information portals “Trend”, “Day.az” and “Novaya Epokha”.
The exhibition will run until April 30 of this year.
