SALZBURG, February 19. /Dunyo IA/. In Salzburg, Austria - the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - the national ballet performance of Uzbekistan, “Lazgi: The dance of love and soul” was staged on the stage of the Grosses Festspielhaus (Great Festival Hall), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event drew approximately 2,000 participants from political, economic, cultural, and educational circles across Austria, Germany, Switzerland and other European countries. Among the audience were also heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Vienna and Salzburg, as well as Uzbek expatriates living in Europe.

The production, whose world premiere took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2021, has swiftly been staged at a series of prestigious international venues, including “Dubai Opera”, as well as major theatres in Istanbul and Bursa (Turkey), Dortmund (Germany), Paris (France), Saint Petersburg and Moscow (Russian Federation), Beijing (People’s Republic of China), Baku (Republic of Azerbaijan) and London (United Kingdom), eliciting genuine admiration from audiences at every performance.

European connoisseurs of ballet have lauded the production, hailing it as one of the most outstanding cultural projects representing the New Uzbekistan on the global stage. According to audience feedback, the work - rooted in national traditions and the country’s rich cultural heritage - has impressed with its powerful choreography, evocative scenography and contemporary lighting design.

Jovanka Porsche, head of the Austrian cultural organization “Global Neighbours”, emphasized that the production was “a true revelation” for her, highlighting its emotional depth and dynamic energy.

Rasa Ostrauskaite, Permanent Representative of the EU Delegation to the OSCE, in turn, described the production as “deserving of the highest applause”, specifically highlighting the music and choreography.

Austrian residents also shared their impressions, calling the performance “touching”, “aesthetically brilliant” and “memorable”. Many noted the harmonious blend of ballet music, movement and stage design.

Following the performance, the creative team of “Lazgi: Dance of love and soul” received a lengthy standing ovation, serving as clear evidence of the warm reception of Uzbek art on the European stage.
