BUDAPEST, March 15. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Oybek Shakhavdinov, held talks with András Biro, President of the Hungarian Turan Foundation and the primary organizer of the Great Kurultay - World Congress of Turkic Peoples, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, parties discussed Uzbekistan's participation in Europe’s largest ethno-cultural event, which will take place in Hungary this year from August 12 to 20. Uzbekistan has been invited as a guest of honour, with the opportunity to establish its own national pavilion.
The Kurultay brings together representatives from over 27 nations and ethnic groups united by the history of nomadic civilizations. The program features cultural, sporting and scientific events, as well as international exhibitions and diplomatic meetings. In 2024, the festival drew approximately 250,000 participants.
András Biro emphasized that Uzbekistan's participation in the Kurultay creates new opportunities to promote national cultural heritage and strengthen international cooperation.
In 2026, Uzbekistan and Hungary announced a reciprocal Year of Culture, Science, and Innovation, aimed at bolstering cultural and educational ties between the two nations. According to Ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov, participating in the Kurultay will be a significant step in the further development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
