Astana to host first international festival of AI-generated films in 2026

TASHKENT, April 23. /Dunyo IA/. The first international film festival dedicated to works created using artificial intelligence technologies Astana AI Film Festival /AAIFF 2026/ will take place in Astana in autumn 2026, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, the central event of AAIFF 2026 will be an international competition of short films produced with the use of artificial intelligence. Filmmakers from around the world will be eligible to participate, regardless of country of origin, experience, or access to professional studios.

The organizers plan to establish the Astana AI Film Festival as an annual event in the creative industries and a sustainable international platform for new formats and emerging talent. Applications will open in May and run until the end of August. Participants will be required to create an AI-generated short film of up to 10 minutes and submit it via the official online festival platform along with a project description.

The total prize fund of AAIFF 2026 will amount to USD 1 million, making it one of the largest events of its kind. The project will be financed through sponsorship and partner contributions.
