MADRID, February 5. /Dunyo IA/. Bobur Usmanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan met with José Luis Bonet Ferrer, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The parties discussed current and prospective areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
It was noted that Spain is one of Uzbekistan’s key partners within the European Union. Over the past six years, bilateral trade has nearly doubled, reaching USD 106.4 million by the end of 2025. At the same time, current trade volumes do not fully reflect the potential of the two countries’ economies.
José Luis Bonet Ferrer, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that Uzbekistan’s ongoing structural reforms - aimed at liberalizing trade, improving the investment climate, supporting the private sector and protecting the rights of foreign investors - are yielding results, with interest from the Spanish business community steadily increasing.
Uzbekistan’s appeal to investors is further strengthened by its predictable legal and regulatory framework, existing tax and customs incentives, free economic zones, industrial parks and sector-specific clusters.
Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to practical and long-term cooperation, the development of direct business contacts, targeted B2B meetings and business forums. This includes facilitating the participation of Spanish entrepreneurs in the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the joint organization of the Uzbekistan - Spain Business Forum in Madrid in 2026.
It is worth noting that the Spanish Chamber of Commerce is a national organization comprising 85 territorial chambers within Spain and 44 overseas offices in more than 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia. The Chamber represents the interests of Spanish businesses, supports international trade and investment, fosters the development of business contacts and promotes the internationalization of companies across all sectors of the economy, serving as a bridge between the private sector and government and international institutions.
