Ambassador of Uzbekistan discusses new directions of bilateral cooperation with Spanish Congress deputies

MADRID, May 30. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Farrukh Tursunov held a meeting with a group of deputies from the Congress of Spain representing the People's Party, led by Maria Soledad Cruz-Guzmán García, a representative of the Culture Committee, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the talks, the parties discussed topical issues regarding the further expansion of Uzbek-Spanish cooperation in political, cultural, humanitarian, and interparliamentary spheres. Attention was also paid to promoting Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage in Spain, as well as organizing scientific and cultural events and projects aimed at strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed the parliamentarians in detail on the large-scale reforms implemented in New Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, transformations in the social and cultural spheres, as well as measures to preserve and popularize the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage on the international stage.
Maria Soledad Cruz-Guzmán García emphasized that Uzbekistan currently holds an important place in Central Asia and attracts growing interest in Spain due to its ongoing reforms, openness, and active foreign policy.
The deputy noted the steady development of relations between Uzbekistan and Spain, the intensification of bilateral dialogue at various levels, and the presence of significant potential for deepening cooperation in the fields of culture, education, tourism and humanitarian exchanges.
The Spanish parliamentarian highly praised the organization and successful hosting of the media event “History and Cultural Heritage of the Great Temurids” and the premiere screenings of the feature film
“The Great Amir and Donna Maria” in Madrid and Barcelona this April, which generated significant interest among the Spanish audience.
She expressed her readiness to provide comprehensive support to the initiatives of the Uzbek side aimed at popularizing the national traditions, art, and historical heritage of the Uzbek people among the Spanish public.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to further strengthen the partnership, expand humanitarian cooperation, and implement new joint projects contributing to the development of Uzbek-Spanish relations.
