MADRID, June 25. /Dunyo IA/. Online talks were held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid between Ambassador Farrukh Tursunov and Jaume Balaguer Peñarroya, Director of Global Financial Institutions for the Middle East & Central Asia Regions at the “Banco de Sabadell” banking group, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, Spanish side was briefed on the socio-economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, the favorable investment climate, stable economic growth rates, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation with leading financial institutions of Spain and the EU.

Special attention was paid to the possibilities of “Banco de Sabadell” participating in the financing of investment and infrastructure projects being implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of Spanish companies. In particular, prospects were discussed for attracting the banking group's financial instruments to implement projects on creating modern greenhouse complexes based on the advanced experience of the Spanish province of Almería and geothermal technologies from Galicia, as well as other initiatives in the fields of agriculture, energy, industry, transport and tourism.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan initiated the consideration of the possibility of opening a “Banco de Sabadell” representative office in Uzbekistan. It was noted that the presence of one of Spain's leading banks in the Uzbek market would contribute to the further growth of business activity, significantly facilitate the attraction of Spanish investments and expand the participation of Spanish businesses in implementing promising projects in the republic.

The representative of “Banco de Sabadell” noted the effectiveness of the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and stated that the bank sees significant prospects for developing cooperation with our country. It was emphasized that “Banco de Sabadell” may consider the possibility of participating in the financing of projects being implemented in Uzbekistan with the involvement of Spanish companies.

Following the talks, Spanish side expressed interest in the further development of cooperation with Uzbekistan and announced the possibility of considering a visit to our country, jointly with representatives of several Spanish companies, to explore prospects for implementing new joint projects.
