HAVANA, November 21. /Dunyo IA/. Yesterday the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan with residence in New York Ulugbek Lapasov presented his credentials to the President of Cuba Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, reports Dunyo IA correspondent .

During a brief conversation following the official ceremony, Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that Cuba values its relations with Uzbekistan, which are based on principles of friendship, mutual respect, and consideration of each other's interests.

The Cuban government also expressed strong interest in enhancing political dialogue and strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Tashkent.

The President of Cuba emphasized the significant untapped potential for deepening bilateral partnerships in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, as well as in healthcare and tourism.

At the end of the meeting, Miguel Díaz-Canel conveyed his highest regards and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan.

During his stay in Havana, Ambassador Ulugbek Lapasov laid flowers at the monument to Cuba's national hero Jose Marti, as well as held meetings and negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Parliament, Ministry of Health, "BioCubaPharma", a group of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

Uzbekistan and Cuba established diplomatic relations on March 13, 2006. Ulugbek Lapasov is the first Ambassador from Uzbekistan to Cuba in 18 years.

It is worth noting that on August 3, 2023, Ulugbek Lapasov was appointed as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations in New York.

He is 42 years old and graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent. Completing programs at several foreign universities, Ulugbek Lapasov began his career as an intern in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working in the central office and diplomatic missions abroad. He is fluent in French, English, and Russian.
