WARSAW, May 22. /Dunyo IA/. The logistics operator “Rohlig SUUS” intends to open a company in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo correspondent, citing with the portal of the popular Polish daily newspaper “Puls Biznesu”.
The article notes that Central Asia is attracting an increasing number of Polish entrepreneurs and managers. For instance, Rafal Juszczak, the former head of “PKO BP”, recently took charge of “Hamkor Bank” in Uzbekistan. Additionally, Polish company “Selena” is investing in the country and other states within the region.
Polish logistics operator “Rohlig SUUS Logistics” also continues its expansion in Central Asia. A few years ago, the company entered the Kazakhstan market, and it is now opening a subsidiary in Uzbekistan. This marks the ninth country of presence for the SUUS group.
The Group's President, Piotr Iwo Chmielewski, expects that this expansion will allow the company to strengthen its position in the global logistics market, which is severely affected by geopolitical instability. The executive views Central Asia as a “safe haven” for investments and emphasizes that the choice of Tashkent was not accidental.
According to him, Uzbekistan is developing at a pace reminiscent of Central Europe's transformation in the 1990s, with the country actively attracting foreign capital and investing intensively in infrastructure.
Chmielewski noted that many Polish and European companies -including those in the pharmaceutical, household appliances, FMCG, textile, engineering, and construction industries - are already exporting goods to Central Asia. Opening a company in Uzbekistan meets the needs of Western enterprises looking for an operator well-acquainted with local realities, as well as local businesses interested in cooperating with an experienced international partner.
Piotr Iwo Chmielewski admits that the decision to expand into Central Asia was a consequence of changes in global trade and politics. The unstable situation in the Middle East, rising costs, and trade wars signify the end of the era of predictable globalization.
The development of Polish business in the region is further supported by the expansion of routes by the Polish airline LOT. Company spokesperson Krzysztof Moczulski noted a growing interest in Central Asia from both tourists and business passengers. An increasing number of companies are expanding their operations in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries in the region, which demonstrates the rising importance of Central Asia for Polish and European businesses.
LOT is already operating flights to Tashkent, Riyadh and Seoul, and has recently announced the launch of new destinations - Bangkok and Almaty. Direct flights and convenient connections in Warsaw facilitate the development of trade, investment and employee mobility.
