Indian company expands cooperation horizons in Uzbekistan from tablets to almond orchards

DELHI, April 3. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Sardor Rustambaev met with the head of the Indian company “Shayana Farm”, Ashok Kumar Tiwari, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Indian company has been operating in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical sector for a quarter of a century. Its head noted that the consistent reforms and the investment climate created in the country in recent years have established favourable conditions for intensifying cooperation.

For example, the “Will Med Farm” enterprise, launched in Tashkent in 2017 with an investment of USD 4 million, is now a leader in the production of the popular drug “Küpen” in our country.

A major new project is currently being implemented in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region.

A modern plant worth USD 21 million is being constructed within the “Tashkent Pharma Park” innovation cluster. Due to mutual high interest and market prospects, an increase in investment by an additional USD 6 million is currently under discussion.

The Indian entrepreneur decided not to limit himself to the pharmaceutical industry. During the meeting with the head of the diplomatic mission, he revealed plans to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture.

“Uzbekistan possesses colossal potential in the agricultural sector, which is in high demand in India”, - he emphasized.

The company's plans are impressive in their diversity. The Indian side is negotiating the supply of dried fruits, legumes, and the medicinal plant ferula (kavrak) from Uzbekistan. Given the huge demand for almonds in India, “Shayana Farm” is also developing an investment project for cultivating this crop in the Namangan region.

The meeting in Delhi once again confirmed that Indian capital sees Uzbekistan as a reliable base for long-term production and technological growth.

The transition from manufacturing medicines to creating agro-industrial chains is a clear reflection that business confidence in Uzbekistan's renewal process has evolved into a large-scale strategic partnership.
