Open lessons on the scientific and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan organized for schoolchildren in Tokyo

TOKYO, March 15. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbek diplomats in Japan, in cooperation with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs (Tourism) and volunteer professors from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held a series of open lessons at “Ogikubo” Elementary School in Suginami Ward, titled “Uzbekistan: A land of outstanding scholars and contributions to world science”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Two sessions were attended by students, teachers, and parents. During the events, the schoolchildren were introduced to Uzbekistan's history, its rich cultural heritage and the country's tourism potential. Special attention was given to the cities inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List: Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shahrisabz.

Participants learned fascinating facts about the great statesman and commander Amir Temur and the Temurid Empire, highlighting his pivotal role in the political life of Eurasia during the late 14th and early 15th centuries. It was noted that Amir Temur’s methods of state administration and foreign policy helped secure trade routes and revitalize commerce along the Silk Road.

Furthermore, students were impressed by the national traditions, values and handicraft products of Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the event, a separate meeting was held with the administration of “Ogikubo” School. The discussion focused on organizing summer trips to Uzbekistan and holding joint online lessons to facilitate the exchange of experience between schools in both countries.

It is noted that organizing open lessons in Tokyo schools to popularize the culture, history and tourism potential of Uzbekistan has already become a tradition, with this year marking the third time the initiative has been held.
