Legacy and historical significance of Amir Temur personality impress residents of Novosibirsk

NOVOSIBIRSK, April 3. /Dunyo IA/.  A “round table” dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great Sahibkiran Amir Temur was held at the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by prominent researchers of Amir Temur, Temurid scholars and Turkologists from Novosibirsk, as well as compatriots and students studying at various universities in the capital of Siberia.

In his speech, the Consul General of Uzbekistan Aslam Akbarov, emphasized that Amir Temur was a great strategist, a skilled politician, a decisive reformer, the founder of a state based on laws and customs, a philanthropist and a patron of trade, craftsmanship and culture. The Sahibkiran's motto, “Power is in Justice”, which was uniformly applied across all territories of the state created by Amir Temur based on laws, traditions and customs, remains today a priority spiritual and moral criterion and benchmark for us, his successors.

Doctor of Historical Sciences and Editor-in-Chief of the “Siberian Archive” research journal, Vladislav Kokoulin, emphasized that the personality and the very legacy of Amir Temur, including his book “The Institutes of Temur” (Ulojeniye Temura), are an invaluable global heritage. Furthermore, even today, Amir Temur is internationally recognized as a patron of science, art, poetry and culture.

Being versatilely gifted, Amir Temur perfectly understood that the existence of society and any human civilization is impossible without spirituality. In his “Institutes...”, he writes about moral qualities such as selflessness, respect for people, charity and mercy, as well as justice and the principles of humanity and humanism as immense spiritual wealth and beauty. A wise politician with a broad outlook and a sharp analytical mind, he entered history primarily as a creator. By gathering the most skilled architects, builders and masters - whose magnificent creations were to serve as an indicator of the state's power and greatness - he transformed Mawarannahr into the center of trade, economy and culture of Central Asia”, noted Vladislav Kokoulin.

Denis Borisov, Director of the Siberian Society for International Studies, emphasized the close connection between the personality of Amir Temur and modern Uzbekistan.

“The scale of Amir Temur's achievements is not only impressive but also allows us all to understand the moral criteria by which his empire developed, and the just laws that prevailed and operated within it. Much of this unique legacy can be seen firsthand today in modern and rapidly developing Uzbekistan”, - Russian scientist concluded.

The participants also focused on the fact that during the reign of Amir Temur and the Temurid dynasty, the art of diplomacy was elevated to an unprecedented level.

This is evidenced by Amir Temur's diplomatic relations and correspondence with the rulers of France, England, Spain, Byzantium, Egypt, China, India, the Ottoman Empire and many other states.
