President of Kyrgyzstan intends to run for a second term

BISHKEK, August 14. /Dunyo IA/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov confirmed his intention to participate in the 2027 presidential elections, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with reference to his interview with Kyrgyz journalist Ali Toktakunov.
“I will run for another term”, Head of State said, answering a question about his political future.
President emphasized that any willing candidate would be able to participate in the elections. According to him, the authorities will not impose restrictions on participants and will eliminate administrative pressure on public sector employees.
“Whoever wants to run in the elections - let them run. We will not restrict anyone. The elections will be held transparently in accordance with the law”, President stated.
Sadyr Japarov has held the office of the President of Kyrgyzstan since January 2021. At that time, he won the early presidential election, garnering more than 79% of the vote.
The next presidential election in Kyrgyzstan will take place on January 27th, 2027. In July 2026, the rules for conducting presidential and parliamentary elections in the country were amended: a constitutional law established a new date for the regular election of the Head of State - the fourth Wednesday of January 2027.
