Memory of the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi honored in Ankara

ANKARA, April 7. /Dunyo IA/. The Social Sciences University of Ankara hosted an international scientific conference titled “The Heritage of Alisher Navoi”, dedicated to studying the immense contribution of the recognized “Sultan of the Word” to world culture, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The opening ceremony was attended by Osman Mesten, Co-Chairman of the “Uzbekistan - Türkiye” Interparliamentary Friendship Group; Associate Professor Feruza Turakhujaeva, Deputy Director of the Alisher Navoi International Foundation; and Professor Munire Kevser Baş, Vice-Rector of the Social Sciences University of Ankara. In their speeches, they emphasized the inseparable bond between the peoples of the two countries, rooted in a shared cultural and spiritual foundation.
The main segment of the event was held in the format of a scientific and educational panel session. Deeply analytical scholarly reports were presented by leading Turkish Navoi scholars - Professor Abdurrahman Güzel and Dr. Kemal Yavuz Ataman - alongside representatives of the Uzbek academic community, Professors Narzulla Zhuraev and Abdukhalil Mavrulov. The researchers examined Navoi’s role as a pivotal figure in shaping the shared cultural space of the Turkic world and analyzed the unique characteristics of his literary mastery.
During the discussions, particular emphasis was placed on the significance of our great ancestor’s legacy in contemporary realities. Participants noted that the ideas of humanism and enlightenment embedded in Navoi’s works play a pivotal role in the spiritual foundation of the Third Renaissance in New Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the conference, guests and participants visited the monument to Alisher Navoi in Ankara and held a wreath-laying ceremony.
