FAO Headquarters in Rome hosts premiere of the documentary Uzbek film “The Will of the Earth” to coincide with World Soil Day

• 198ROME, December 10. /Dunyo IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan, together with the International Zamin Foundation and Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, organized a screening of the film “The Will of the Earth”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
In a high‑profile cultural and diplomatic initiative, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Rome, in partnership with the International Zamin Foundation and Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, organized a screening of the environmental documentary “The Will of the Earth” at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The screening was attended by the film’s creators, including representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the International Zamin Foundation and the FAO office in Tashkent; the Special Adviser to the Director-General of FAO; as well as Uzbek students studying in Italy, staff of diplomatic missions in Rome and members of the Italian public.
In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan and other officials introduced the audience to the film “The Will of the Earth”, emphasizing its significance in the context of climate change, sustainable use of soil resources, and ensuring food security. It was noted that the film highlights Uzbekistan’s unique soil diversity, advanced sustainable farming practices, as well as modern soil protection technologies implemented through FAO projects across various regions of the country.
The screening of the film and the accompanying events received high praise from attendees. Participants noted that, despite the large-scale implementation of FAO projects in many countries worldwide, their wide promotion is not carried out as frequently. In this regard, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan’s initiative in organizing such an event serves as a positive example worthy of being replicated and applied in other countries.
The Special Adviser to the Director-General of FAO expressed appreciation to Uzbekistan for its active contribution to addressing land degradation, soil salinization, and water resource issues. Representatives of foreign states expressed interest in further studying the projects being implemented in Uzbekistan and in developing prospects for cooperation in the relevant areas.
