OPOLE, September 2. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan held a meeting in Poland’s Opole Voivodeship with Marshal of the region Szymon Ogłaza and Deputy Voivode Sławomir Gradzik to discuss prospects for establishing direct interregional cooperation between the voivodeship and Syrdarya region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The meeting addressed the development of trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as the expansion of cooperation in industry, agriculture, education and tourism.

Szymon Ogłaza highlighted Uzbekistan’s important strategic role in Central Asia and expressed the Opole Voivodeship’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at developing interregional partnership. Particular attention was paid to the growing interest of Polish entrepreneurs in the Uzbek market and the prospects for expanding business contacts.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to intensify mutual visits by representatives of the regions and organize joint events involving business communities from Syrdarya region and Opole Voivodeship.

As part of the visit, Embassy representatives also met with Magdalena Możdżeń, head of the Opole Centre for Economic Development, and specialists responsible for investment-related matters.

During the talks, the Polish side was briefed on Uzbekistan’s economic, industrial and export potential, investment opportunities, as well as incentives available to foreign investors and favourable conditions created for doing business in the country.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to organize an online meeting involving representatives of the business communities of Syrdarya region and Opole Voivodeship to discuss specific areas of cooperation and prospects for implementing joint projects.

Particular attention during the visit was paid to developing cultural and humanitarian ties. At a meeting with Adam Drosik, head of the Voivodeship Public Library, the sides discussed ways to expand cultural relations and promote Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage in Poland.

An exhibition dedicated to Uzbek classical and contemporary literature was organized at the library in connection with the Embassy delegation’s visit. In addition, a ceremony was held to open an “Uzbekistan Corner”, whose collection was enriched with books on the history and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
