KUWAIT, April 28. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ayubkhon Yunusov, met with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait Osama Khalid Abdullah Al-Boodai, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the conversation, issues regarding increasing food exports from Uzbekistan to Kuwait and implementing joint investment projects in this area were discussed.
Minister was briefed on the seasonal ripening schedule of fruit and vegetable crops, as well as a portfolio of promising projects in the Surkhandarya, Samarkand, and Jizzakh regions. An official invitation to the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum was presented to the Minister.
The participants paid special attention to optimizing transport routes between the two countries in light of the current geopolitical instability in the Middle East. The head of the ministry supported the initiative to develop a transport route through the territories of Turkmenistan, Iran (or Türkiye) and Iraq.
It was noted that using Kuwait as a transit hub would provide direct access for domestic goods to the markets of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE and Oman. This approach is viewed as an effective alternative to costly air freight and maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz, the use of which in the current situation is associated with risks and rising costs.
Following the visit, an agreement was reached to appoint a dedicated specialist responsible for cooperation with Uzbekistan. In the near future, experts will begin a detailed study of the safest and most cost-effective logistics schemes to ensure regular food supplies to the Persian Gulf region.
