Hungarian company expresses interest in expanding nuclear energy cooperation with Uzbekistan

BUDAPEST, February 9. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomats of Uzbekistan have held a meeting with Péter Kárpáti, Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian energy engineering company “MVM EGI Zrt.”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The parties discussed the current status of the project aimed at introducing dry cooling technology at the nuclear power plant under construction in Uzbekistan. The Hungarian side spoke positively about the progress achieved, noting that the project is advancing in a consistent and efficient manner.
At the same time, it was emphasised that, in order to move the project into its practical implementation phase, it would be advisable to accelerate the signing of a tripartite agreement. Preparatory work on the agreement is currently being carried out jointly with “Uzatom”, the Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the head of the company stated that the MVM Group is interested in entering the Uzbek market and views Uzbekistan as a major and long-term strategic partner. He also expressed the company’s readiness to consider proposals related to potential investment projects in the country.
