Authorities in Samarkand announce expansion of potato crops

• 127CAIRO, February 9. /Dunyo IA/. As part of the delegation of Uzbekistan visit to Egypt, talks were held with the leadership of the innovative company “EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E.”, headed by Mohamed Abdel Salam Gabr, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, it was noted that the implementation of joint projects would enable the introduction of modern agricultural technologies in potato cultivation, improve the quality of seed material and expand Uzbekistan’s export potential.
Following the talks, a memorandum of understanding was signed between “UzAgroStar Holding” and the Egyptian company “EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E.” on collaboration to increase the production of potato seed material in Samarkand. The document envisions a long-term and strategic partnership in the areas of seed potato cultivation, the introduction of in-vitro technologies, scientific and innovative research and export activities.
A specialized Uzbek company, “Bulungur-Agro Star”, has signed an agreement with an Egyptian firm to supply and cultivate mini-tubers of the “Hermes” (G0) potato variety. Under the deal, 250,000 premium mini-tubers will be delivered to Uzbekistan, where, using advanced Egyptian agricultural techniques, they will serve as the foundation for producing high-quality seed potatoes.
To ensure the successful implementation of the technology, Egyptian agricultural specialists will arrive in Uzbekistan. They will oversee the cultivation process, provide expert guidance on soil preparation, planting, irrigation and fertilization as well as monitor post-harvest storage, ensuring that the highest international standards are met.
