Tashkent and Islamabad agree to establish warehouses for Uzbek goods at Pakistan’s Karachi port

ТASHKENT, February 7. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Mamanbi Omarov, First Deputy Minister of Transport, met with Umar Zafar Sheikh, Pakistan’s Deputy Minister for Maritime Affairs and Shahid Ahmed, Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the meeting focused on facilitating Uzbek freight transport through Pakistani ports, the establishment of an Uzbek warehouse at the Port of Karachi and providing incentives for investors.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to establish Uzbek storage facilities at the Port of Karachi.
Earlier, agreements were reached to expedite field studies for the development of a feasibility study for the “Uzbekistan – Afghanistan -Pakistan” railway project, and to conduct pilot shipments in February along the new transport corridor “Pakistan – China – Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan”.
