SEOUL, August 24. /Dunyo IA/. South Korean publication “Diplomacy Journal” published an article titled “On September 4-6th, Samarkand will host XII Inter-parliamentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians” dedicated to the hosting of the large-scale international forum in Uzbekistan and the recognition of its growing role in global diplomacy, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication authored by Kim Tae-Yeong notes that holding the XII IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians on September 4–6th, 2026, in ancient Samarkand under the motto “Restoring Human Rights, Justice and Dignity for All in Volatile Times” underscores the high prestige of the country. The forum will gather around 300 delegates from 183 countries, 15 international organizations, and about 50 permanent observers to discuss strategically important issues on the youth agenda.
Publication focuses attention on the substantive program of the event, which includes six thematic sessions. The participants' focus centers on protecting youth rights in conditions of conflict and digital transformation, expanding their political and economic rights, ensuring employment, and preventing violence. The utilization of innovative interactive formats, such as group discussions and training sessions, fosters an effective exchange of views and strengthens the professional contacts of the new generation of politicians.
An important component of the conference will be the Third Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The official sessions will take place on September 4–5th, while September 6 will be dedicated to a cultural program organized by the parliament of the host country. Following the results, the adoption of a final outcome document containing recommendations from young parliamentarians is planned.
In conclusion, author recalls that the annual IPU conference was established in 2014, building upon the organization's initiatives launched back in 2010 in Bangkok and continued with the creation of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians in 2013. To date, eleven such global conferences have already been held, covering a wide range of topical issues from democracy to climate change and gender equality.
