“Eldameer”: Uzbekistan and Serbia build a new economic bridge between Central Asia and the Balkans

CAIRO, September 7. /Dunyo IA/.  Egyptian information portal “Eldameer” has published an analytical article on the development of Uzbek-Serbian partnership and Uzbekistan’s prospects for accessing markets in the Balkan region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that following the meetings between Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Aleksandar Vučić in 2023 and 2025, as well as the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador to Belgrade in 2025, bilateral dialogue has reached a new level. Tashkent views Serbia as a key “gateway” for expanding economic and trade ties with the Balkan countries.

Despite the current bilateral trade turnover of $12 million and the presence of around 10 enterprises with Serbian capital, the two sides have significant potential for growth. Priority areas of cooperation include mechanical engineering, automotive components, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, information technology and tourism.

Particular emphasis is placed on developing the “Central Asia–Balkans” logistics route within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Corridor. The establishment of “dry ports” and optimization of routes could reduce cargo delivery times by two to three times, facilitating the integration of the regions into global value chains.
