SEOUL, September 7. /Dunyo IA/. International publication “UN Journal” has published an analytical article entitled “New Uzbekistan: Building Peace and Trust along Central Asia’s borders”, focusing on key developments in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, the strengthening of good-neighbourly relations, and the emergence of a new atmosphere of trust in Central Asia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that, as Uzbekistan marks the 35^th Anniversary of its Independence of Uzbekistan, particular importance is attached to reflecting on the country’s path of development and the achievements attained. The publication identifies the establishment of open and trust-based good-neighbourly relations with the countries of the region as one of the most notable achievements of recent years.

It is emphasized that the open borders between the countries of Central Asia today are the result of sustained diplomatic efforts, political will, and the consistent pursuit of mutually acceptable solutions. The author notes that following the attainment of independence, many sections of the state borders remained legally unsettled, a situation that was particularly acute in the densely populated Fergana Valley.

“A border is not simply a line on a map”, article states. For many years, unresolved border issues had a direct impact on people’s lives, making it more difficult to travel to relatives, maintain trade ties and move between settlements in everyday life.

“UN Journal” concludes that Uzbekistan’s modern foreign policy, based on openness, pragmatism and mutual benefit, is contributing to the emergence of a new atmosphere of friendship and trust in Central Asia. 

Today, borders between the fraternal states of Central Asia are gradually ceasing to be perceived as dividing lines and are becoming spaces for cooperation, trade, communication and mutual trust. This process, “UN Journal” concludes, reflects the formation of a new architecture of good-neighborly relations and shared development across the region.
