“Euronews Srbija”: A new stage of Uzbek-Serbian Economic Partnership begins

BELGRADE, September 7. /Dunyo IA/.  Serbian portal “Euronews Srbija” has published an article focusing on the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia, which is currently underway, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication cites data from Uzbekistan’s Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), according to which bilateral trade turnover increased nearly nine fold from 2016 to 2025, rising from $1.4 million to $12 million. Nine enterprises with Serbian capital currently operate in Uzbekistan, while the volume of foreign direct investment attracted from Serbia during this period amounted to $2.2 million.

It is noted that Uzbekistan views Serbia as a gateway to European markets, while Serbia sees Uzbekistan as a platform for entering Central Asian markets. Priority areas of cooperation include mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, energy, the establishment of direct air links and participation of Uzbek companies in railway projects in Serbia.

Visit of the President of Uzbekistan is expected to provide impetus to the transition from trade towards deeper industrial cooperation, production localization and joint access to third-country markets.
