“London Post”: “Shavat–Dashoguz” Border Trade Zone strengthens economic ties between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

LONDON, May 19. /Dunyo IA/. The popular British electronic publication “London Post” published an article by the founder of the “New Media” educational center Beruni Alimov, dedicated to the “Shavat-Dashoguz” border trade zone, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

It notes that the joint Uzbek-Turkmen trade zone, located between the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz velayat of Turkmenistan, is viewed as an important step in the development of economic and social cooperation between the two countries. The project symbolises the strengthening of bilateral relations and the restoration of historical and cultural ties of the border regions.

It is emphasized that the official opening of the zone took place in November 2025 with the participation of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The area of the complex is six hectares and includes trade infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as administrative and service facilities.

The article highlights the implementation of a “single window” system, integrating customs and quarantine services to simplify procedures for entrepreneurs. Additionally, the introduction of a simplified visa regime for both countries aims to boost mobility and trade activity.

The author notes that the trade zone boosts the regional economy by increasing mutual trade and expanding agricultural exports. Key efforts include implementing digital solutions and exchange-based trading mechanisms to enhance transparency and efficiency.

The author writes that the trade zone is already exerting an impact on the development of the regional economy, including a growth in mutual trade and the expansion of agricultural exports. The introduction of modern digital solutions and exchange trading mechanisms aimed at increasing transparency and efficiency is emphasized separately.

In conclusion, it is noted that the “Shavat-Dashoguz” project is viewed as an example of deepening regional integration in Central Asia and could become a model for future cross-border economic initiatives.
