“Nezavisimaya Gazeta”: Uzbekistan and the United States move from political declarations to major investment and trade agreements

MOSCOW, July 6. /Dunyo IA/. Russian daily newspaper “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” published an article titled “Uzbekistan becomes the main gateway for the U.S. into Central Asia”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication states that Uzbekistan and the US are actively developing relations, moving from political declarations to major investment and trade agreements. Critical minerals, energy, aviation, finance, IT and agriculture have become the key areas of cooperation.
Particular emphasis is placed on the recent visit of US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to Tashkent, which marked a significant step and gave a new impetus to bilateral relations. On June 25, he was received by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The parties agreed on a package of trade commitments, including lowering tariffs on American goods. Washington reaffirmed its support for Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is crucial for the country's ongoing reforms.
Furthermore, author informs that the US and Uzbekistan have also agreed on mutual investments, including projects in the field of critical minerals, where Uzbekistan is a natural partner due to its resources. The American company “Orion Critical Mineral Consortium” is considering investments in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the importance of creating resilient supply chains and intends to build a global project portfolio worth 20 billion dollars.
It also mentions the development of financial infrastructure and a business council, which will become a foundation for implementing large-scale business projects.
In conclusion, it is noted that Uzbek-American relations are transitioning into a practical phase, which could mark a significant step forward for both countries.
