“Pakistan In the World”: Uzbekistan to host the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2026

ISLAMABAD, August 21. /Dunyo IA/. Publication “Pakistan In the World” reported on the expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in the field of digital technologies, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that the partnership encompasses telecommunications, e-government, healthcare, artificial intelligence and education. South Korean companies are involved in developing digital infrastructure and establishing offices in Uzbekistan, while South Korean universities are training Uzbek specialists. At the same time, Uzbek IT companies are expanding their exports of services to the South Korean market.

One example of industrial cooperation highlighted by “Pakistan In the World” is “Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan”, a joint venture established with South Korean partners. Between 2022 and 2025, the company produced 232,100 kilometers of fibber-optic cable worth 657.5 billion soums.

Publication also pays particular attention to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and workforce training. Uzbekistan is implementing national strategies for digital government and artificial intelligence, as well as programmes aimed at encouraging young people to pursue careers in STEM and IT. In 2026, the country will host the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).

Publication emphasizes that in the coming years, cooperation is expected to focus on digital government, data centers, healthcare infrastructure, AI pilot projects and educational programs.
