Pakistan Media on proposal to declare Samarkand the Green Investment Capital of Central Asia

ISLAMABAD, June 8. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani publication “Infora News” has published an article dedicated to Uzbekistan's initiatives announced during the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in Samarkand, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
It is reported that in the welcoming address of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the forum participants, it was proposed to declare Samarkand the “green investment and innovation capital of Central Asia”.
Furthermore, the head of state initiated holding the 2027 Tashkent International Investment Forum under the theme “Sustainable Development and Green Investments”, as well as organizing the “Eco Expo Central Asia” exhibition.
The article also notes Uzbekistan's readiness to join the donor countries of the Global Environment Facility. Particular attention at the forum was paid to climate change issues, biodiversity conservation, and the new GEF financial program for 2026–2030.
