Swiss Media: Uzbekistan strengthens protection of children from digital threats

GENEVA, June 6. /Dunyo IA/. On June 1, new legislative measures aimed at strengthening the protection of children from violence and modern digital threats were presented in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the Swiss electronic journal “Diva International”.

The Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated April 17, 2026, amends the Criminal, Administrative, and Criminal Procedure Codes. The document provides for stricter liability for the possession and distribution of pornographic materials involving minors, including in the digital environment.

The law also strengthens procedural guarantees for children participating in investigative actions, including the mandatory involvement of legal representatives and limitations on the duration of interrogations.

It is noted that the new norms are based on international standards and aim to establish a comprehensive child protection system that includes prevention, legal safeguards, and the reduction of psychological stress during interactions with law enforcement agencies.
