Pakistan Media: OTS countries among Uzbekistan's key economic and trade partners

ISLAMABAD, May 14. /Dunyo IA/. An article prepared by the Dunyo Information Agency dedicated to the transit potential of the Turkic space has been published in the Pakistani editions of “Pakistan Economy”, “MNN News” and “Diplomatic Affairs”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

As noted at the beginning of the publication, in the 21st century, the rapid development of global economic ties further enhances the strategic importance of transport and logistics systems. In this context, strengthening cooperation in the transport sector among the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), located in an important geo-economic region connecting Europe and Asia, is becoming one of the priority areas.

“OTS countries can be classified among Uzbekistan's main trade and economic partners, - the Pakistani media notes. - In particular, a large trade turnover is maintained with Kazakhstan, a free trade regime is in effect with Azerbaijan and a most-favoured-nation treatment applies with Türkiye and Hungary. In 2025, the volume of Uzbekistan's cargo transportation with the OTS member states reached 17.5 million tons, which corresponds to nearly 38 percent of the total volume of export-import transportations.

It is emphasized that Uzbekistan actively utilizes the strategic route “China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan/Kazakhstan - Caspian Sea - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Türkiye – Europe”, which passes through the OTS member states. Special attention is paid to the development of this direction in cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States. In particular, large-scale work is being carried out to modernize infrastructure and coordinate logistics processes.

In addition, within the framework of the OTS, a special emphasis is placed on introducing digital solutions into supply chains. In particular, the “e-Permit” electronic permit exchange system has been launched between the member states of the organization, and the “e-TIR” system has been implemented with Azerbaijan. Alongside this, electronic customs systems, automated cargo tracking systems, and “digital customs corridor” format solutions are being widely introduced across the OTS countries.

The article concludes by emphasizing that these initiatives serve as an important step toward forming a unified transport space among the Turkic states. Thanks to digitalized systems, new transport routes and joint investments, the OTS countries are deepening mutual integration and strengthening their positions in the Eurasian transport network.
