• 478ISLAMABAD, January 13. /Dunyo IA/. The Pakistani digital publication “The World News” has published a series of articles covering developments across various sectors in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
In particular, the publication reported that on the first day of the “ASEAN Track Series” cycling competition, held in Nilai, Malaysia, members of the Uzbekistan national team won one gold and one bronze medal.
It was reported that in the women’s elimination event, national team member Nafosat Qoziyeva finished the race in third place, while in the men’s omnium competitions, Sergey Rostovtsev outperformed all his rivals and claimed first place.
According to the publication, this competition serves as a qualifying stage for the Track Cycling World Cup to be held in Perth, Australia, in March this year.
In addition, the ranking points earned during the World Cup stages will secure qualification for the Track Cycling World Championships, scheduled for October in Shanghai, China.
“The World News” also reports that over the next three years, Uzbekistan’s economy is projected to register some of the highest growth rates among CIS countries, surpassing regional averages while maintaining resilience to external economic pressures.
“According to UN estimates, Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product grew by 7.3% in 2025, one of the strongest results in the region. Robust growth was driven by strong domestic demand, rising real household incomes and large-scale public investment in infrastructure, including joint projects with China. Economic growth is projected to slow to 6.0% in 2026 and to 5.9% in 2027, while remaining well above the CIS average”, - the source said.
In addition, the publication featured an article focusing on bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The article notes that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan serves as a clear example of how shared historical ties, geographic proximity and aligned strategic interests create a solid foundation for sustainable, long-term partnership.
“Economic cooperation has become a key area of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan partnership. In recent years, bilateral trade has grown steadily. According to official data, Turkmenistan’s exports to Uzbekistan increased more than tenfold from 2017 to 2024, reaching nearly $1.5 billion. Petroleum products and energy resources constitute the basis of Uzbekistan’s exports, while Uzbekistan exports industrial goods, chemical products, fertilizers, and processed industrial products to Turkmenistan. This structure of trade turnover indicates the complementarity of economies and the formation of absolute economic interdependence”, - the publication “The World News” states.
