Samarkand hosts Uzbekistan - Iraq Investment and Business Forum to strengthen bilateral economic ties

As part of their official visit to Uzbekistan, representatives of the Iraqi business community visited the Samarkand region, where they were briefed on the production activities of local enterprises, including “Ideal Elektro Lux”, “Sam Rafoat Tekstil”, “SAG”, “Azia Metall Prof” and “Pet Agro Oil”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Leaders of leading Iraqi companies were shown the capabilities of Uzbekistan’s industry in electrical engineering, textiles, carpet weaving, metallurgy and agricultural production. At the same time, B2B meetings were held between Uzbek and Iraqi entrepreneurs to explore promising avenues for bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The business delegation’s stay in Samarkand also included the Uzbek - Iraqi Investment and Business Forum. The event brought together representatives from both countries’ business communities, operating in food and agricultural production, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, electrical and household appliances, textile and garment manufacturing and furniture production. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Ibrahim Al-Baghdadi, Chairman of the Economic Council of Iraq.
During the forum, a presentation was delivered highlighting Samarkand’s investment appeal, industrial capabilities, and export potential. In addition, B2B meetings were organized between representatives of the business communities of both countries to discuss promising avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Overall, this forum marked the third milestone in the history of Uzbek-Iraqi business collaboration: the first event was held on December 23, 2025, in Baghdad and the second on January 14, 2026, in Tashkent.
