CAIRO, September 29. /Dunyo IA/.   Popular Egyptian online publication Al-Khabar Al-Youm has published articles covering Uzbekistan-Egypt cooperation in the agricultural and water sectors, as well as the results of the population census and Uzbekistan’s environmental agenda, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication reports on a visit by a high-level Uzbek delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Norqulov, Navoiy Region Governor Narmat Tursunov and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Mansurbek Kilichev to the Future of Egypt sustainable development project sites in the New Delta area. Delegation members familiarized themselves with agricultural infrastructure, livestock complexes and the Nab’ pumping station, highly commending the use of modern technologies. Following the visit, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in agriculture, processing and investment attraction.

Publication also reports on a meeting between the Uzbek delegation and Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Hani Sewilam. The minister emphasized Cairo’s readiness to step up the practical implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on water resources. Particular emphasis was placed on the exchange of expertise within the framework of the “Water System 2.0” platform, the introduction of digital water resources management, SCADA systems, artificial intelligence and water-saving technologies. The sides agreed to hold the first meeting of the joint working group and strengthen cooperation at international and regional water forums.

Article analyses the preliminary results of the first population census in the history of independent Uzbekistan, according to which the country’s population exceeded 39 million, with children under the age of 14 accounting for more than 30 percent. It examines the country’s demographic potential, as well as the activities of the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (“Green University”), including the allocation of 50 grants for students from the Organization of Turkic States member states. Article also highlights the work of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, established by a Presidential Decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in November 2025 to implement state policy in the field of environmental and ecosystem protection.
