The first scientific expedition of Uzbekistan to Iran to study the heritage of Abu Ali ibn Sino was productive, eventful and fruitful

TASHKENT, August 3. /IA "Dunyo"/. In order to implement the agreements previously reached at the highest level and at the invitation of the Iranian side, the Ibn Sino Public Foundation and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan organized the first scientific expedition of Uzbekistan to Iran from 14 to 22 July 2023 to study the rich scientific -cultural heritage of Abu Ali ibn Sino, the "Dunyo" information agency correspondent reports.

The Foundation formed a scientific group of scientists from among the employees of the Academy of Sciences, the Center for Islamic Civilization, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, the Agency for Cultural Heritage, the Research Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Raykhan Beruni and the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan.
The scientific expedition was funded by the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan.
As part of the scientific expedition, visits were made to research institutes and centers, libraries, universities and foundations in the cities of Tehran, Qom, Isfahan and Hamadan, where round tables were also organized.
The Ibn Sino Foundation donated to the National Library and Archives of Iran the result of the scientific work of scientists of Uzbekistan - "The Canon of Medical Medicine" in the Uzbek language in 5 volumes as amended in 2020, the result of the work of the scientific group at the Ibn Sino Foundation - with a 5-language dictionary terms of Abu Ali ibn Sino in Uzbek, Russian, English, Arabic and Latin and the result of the work of specialists from the Agency for Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan - the first volume of the "Register of Foreign Manuscripts Related to Uzbekistan".
These books were presented to the Iranian side by Nozimkhon Makhmudov, Chairman of the Board of the Ibn Sino Public Foundation, with a proposal for further scientific cooperation. In particular, the joint translation of a 5-language dictionary into the 6th language - Farsi and the creation of a separate register of Abu Ali ibn Sino's manuscripts stored in Uzbekistan and Iran.
A round table dedicated to the life and work of Abu Ali ibn Sino was also held at the office of the International Institute of Culture of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). This institute, headquartered in Tehran, brings together ten states of the region with a common culture and history, located in one of the most strategic regions of the globe. The purpose of the framework is to strengthen the cultural affinity, spiritual and fraternal bonds that bind the peoples of the Member States through social and cultural channels of thought and action.
Members of the delegation of Uzbekistan also visited the museums and libraries of Iranian universities that study the heritage of Abu Ali ibn Sino, got acquainted with the sights of Iranian cities.
Summing up the results of the first scientific expedition of Uzbekistan to Iran, its participants noted that it was productive, eventful and fruitful. The expedition contributed to the creation of favorable conditions for further scientific and cultural cooperation with Iran, the joint development and implementation of scientific projects for the translation and publication of books on the study of the heritage of Abu Ali ibn Sino.
Both sides expressed interest in holding round tables, seminars and forums in Uzbekistan and Iran to study the legacy of Ibn Sina, as well as their readiness to continue the practice of organizing scientific expeditions both to Iran and Uzbekistan.
The work of the expedition was widely covered in the Iranian media, which undoubtedly had a resonant effect on the formation of a positive opinion about Uzbekistan among the scientific and cultural establishment of this country.
