New Ambassador of Uzbekistan took up his duties in Kabul

KABUL, October 27. /Dunyo IA/. Today, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Oybek Usmanov, arrived in the capital of Afghanistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

He is 62 years old and a graduate of Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan), where he specialized in philology and Oriental studies. From 2020 to 2024, he served as the Ambassador to Pakistan.

Since 1998, he has been working within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holding various positions both at the central office and in Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions abroad.

Before his appointment in Kabul, he served as Ambassador to Egypt and Pakistan, and from 2011 to 2012, he was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

He is fluent in Pashto, Dari, and English.

Oybek Usmanov has succeeded Yadgarkhoja Shadmanov, who worked as the Ambassador to Kabul from 2012 to 2024.
