LONDON, August 20. /Dunyo IA/. Popular British portal “BBC” has highlighted the rapid growth of Uzbekistan’s IT sector, which has transformed within just a few years into one of the world’s fastest-growing startup ecosystems, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
At the heart of this transformation is IT Park in Tashkent, bringing together 3,700 member companies. Its residents benefit from tax incentives, support with recruitment and training, access to venture funding and international markets. IT service exports grew from $600,000 in 2017 to $1 billion in 2025, with the authorities targeting an increase to $5 billion by 2030.
To attract technology businesses, Uzbekistan is developing a specialised legal and financial environment. Tax incentives for eligible IT Park residents are in place until 2028, with the possibility of extension until 2040. The “Zero Risk Program” helps reduce upfront costs for companies, while regulatory sandboxes and “Enterprise Uzbekistan” allow new business models to be tested under simplified conditions.
At the same time, the country is expanding its digital infrastructure and talent pool. Mobile broadband coverage reaches 99.5 percent of populated areas, while fibre-optic connections cover 98.2 percent. In 2025, more than 510,000 young people earned internationally recognised IT certifications, with women accounting for 55 percent of recipients.
Uzbekistan is also strengthening its position in IT outsourcing. Companies are moving from individual projects towards establishing permanent teams in software engineering, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Access to financing is being expanded through “IT Park Ventures”, which invested approximately $7.1 million in nearly 70 start-ups during its first full year of operations.
In 2026, “StartupBlink” named Uzbekistan “Country of the Year” and the world’s fastest-growing startup ecosystem, recording 227 percent growth. The country ranked 79th globally. By 2030, the authorities expect the IT sector to grow from $6.3 billion to $16 billion, while its contribution to GDP is projected to increase from 4.1 percent to 8.3 percent.
