Uzbekistan and Germany reach agreements on new investment projects

BERLIN, August 20. /Dunyo IA/.  German magazine “UZBEKISTAN • invest now” highlighted new joint projects between Uzbekistan and Germany in the fields of industry, logistics, energy and personnel training, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that during the official visit of the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to Uzbekistan on June 17–18th, he was accompanied by a business delegation consisting of 16 representatives from the German Eastern Business Association.

Following the visit, parties signed documents to launch an assembly production line for “Volkswagen” vehicles in Tashkent, construct a "Rhenus Group" logistics center in the Andijan region, organize consumer goods manufacturing with the participation of “Henkel”, implement a vocational training program in cooperation with “Deutsche Bahn” and open a new “telc” language examination center.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of renewable energy. Uzbekistan intends to increase the share of renewable sources in electricity generation to 35% by 2027 and to 54% by 2030. At the beginning of the year, 42 projects in this sector were announced, with a total value of approximately $11 billion.

As an example of joint efforts in the field of energy efficiency, the publication cites a pilot project for the comprehensive modernization of a multi-apartment residential building in Nukus, supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Niko Warbanoff, Chairman of the Central Asia Working Group of the German Eastern Business Association, noted that Uzbekistan has emerged as one of the most dynamically developing and stable markets in the region in recent years. According to him, the country's interest in production localization and technological cooperation creates additional opportunities for German companies in industry, mechanical engineering and infrastructure development.

Magazine emphasized that the expansion of business ties, the launch of joint production facilities, and collaboration in training qualified specialists could further deepen the economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Germany.
