BERLIN, October 5. /Dunyo IA/. German newspaper “Berliner Zeitung” published an analytical article on the plans and prospects of Uzbekistan in the field of transport and logistics of international significance, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication notes that Uzbekistan does not have direct access to the sea, however, the government led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev intends to turn this geographical limitation into a strategic advantage.
According to the newspaper, Tashkent plans to establish logistical bases on the coasts of the Caspian and Black Seas, participate in the development of the ports of the South Caucasus, and occupy an important place on the trade route through Armenia. An agreement has already been signed with Georgia on the creation of warehouse and transport-logistics facilities of Uzbekistan in the port of Poti. Uzbekistan also intends to participate in the modernization of the ports of Aktau, Turkmenbashi and Baku, and following the President’s visit to Georgia in July, announced for the first time its interest in the Anaklia deep-sea port project.
Publication concludes that Uzbekistan's approach is evident – the country seeks not to be tied to a single transport direction, but to develop the maximum number of alternative corridors simultaneously.
