Further reinforcement of the “Shanghai Spirit” will deepen mutual trust between Member States

BISHKEK, June 30. /Dunyo IA/. A popular Kyrgyz newspaper, “Vecherniy Bishkek”, has published an interview with Saidikram Niyazkhodjaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan, diplomat discussed the current evolution of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), its pivotal role in shaping a multipolar world order, and the prospects for the upcoming SCO Summit in Bishkek, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Ambassador highlighted that the core strength of the organization lies in the principles of the “Shanghai spirit” - mutual trust, equality and respect for the cultural and political diversity of the member states. According to the diplomat, this foundation enables the SCO to maintain resilience and develop despite global instability and the increasing complexity of international relations.
Particular attention in the interview was paid to the economic dimension of the organization's activities. Saidikram Niyazkhodjaev noted that the SCO is progressively transforming into one of the largest platforms for trade, economic and investment cooperation within the Eurasian space. Among the key priorities, he highlighted the development of transport connectivity, digital solutions and industrial cooperation, as well as the implementation of mechanisms aimed at expanding mutual trade among the member states.
Ambassador also emphasized the special role of Central Asia, which, in his words, is becoming one of the key centers of the SCO's practical agenda. Initiatives aimed at strengthening trust, developing infrastructure links and ensuring sustainable growth are actively taking shape in the region. Uzbekistan, as the diplomat noted, acts as an active participant in these processes, proposing concrete projects and initiatives in the fields of security, economy and humanitarian cooperation.
Speaking on the future of the organization, the Ambassador expressed confidence that the potential of the SCO remains far from exhausted. He noted that the upcoming decisions in the fields of trade, the digital economy, and security will contribute to further strengthening cooperation among the member states and enhancing the organization's efficiency.
Particular emphasis in the interview was placed on the preparations for the jubilee SCO Summit, which will be held on September 1st, 2026, in Bishkek. According to the diplomat, this event could become an important milestone in the development of the organization and provide additional impetus to the expansion of practical cooperation.
In conclusion, the Ambassador noted that Uzbekistan intends to continue its active participation in the activities of the SCO, promoting initiatives aimed at strengthening regional stability and developing mutually beneficial partnerships. In his view, the further reinforcement of the “Shanghai spirit” will contribute to deepening trust among states and enhancing the role of the organization in the international system.
