China becomes leading source of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, May 19. /Dunyo IA/. As of May 1st, 2026, a total of 19,490 enterprises with foreign investment are operating in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the National Committee on Statistics of Uzbekistan, of the total number of enterprises, 4,427 operate as joint ventures, while 15,063 are fully foreign-owned companies. Over the past five years, the number of enterprises with foreign capital has increased by 1.4 times.

At the same time, the share of foreign-owned companies rose from 61.3 percent to 77.3 percent, reflecting growing confidence among international businesses in Uzbekistan’s economy.

China ranks first in terms of the number of operating enterprises in Uzbekistan, with 5,615 companies currently active in the country. It is followed by:

Russia — 3,308

Türkiye — 2,216

Kazakhstan — 1,259

Republic of Korea — 721

Afghanistan — 656

Azerbaijan — 452

Tajikistan — 437

United Arab Emirates — 427

India — 405

Experts note that the steady increase in the number of foreign companies has been driven by Uzbekistan’s consistent reforms aimed at improving the business climate, liberalising the economy and expanding international investment cooperation.
