London and Samarkand expand global programs for academic staff training and student mobility

LONDON, January 15. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of the Committee of Veterinary and Livestock Development and Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology held an online meeting with the leadership of the “Royal Veterinary College” (RVC), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Founded in 1791, “Royal Veterinary College” (RVC) currently educates around 2,600 students and employs approximately 500 research scientists. As the largest and one of the oldest veterinary colleges in the United Kingdom, RVC is ranked first in the world for veterinary medicine according to the QS World University Rankings.

Representatives from RVC and Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology exchanged information about their respective institutions’ activities, ongoing educational programs and veterinary research initiatives.

The discussions also addressed the development of higher education in veterinary medicine in Uzbekistan and the expansion of mutually beneficial inter-university cooperation. Representatives of the “Royal Veterinary College” (RVC) expressed their readiness to deepen collaboration with Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology through the introduction of short-term internship and professional development programs for faculty and students, the enhancement of curricula in line with modern approaches to veterinary education, and the implementation of joint research projects in animal health, zoonotic diseases, food security and biotechnology. They also highlighted opportunities to organise international conferences, seminars, and online webinars.

Furthermore, parties emphasized the importance of involving leading scientific institutions of Uzbekistan and highly qualified specialists in applied research within the veterinary and biotechnology sectors.
