“London Post”: Uzbekistan Updates Its Development Trajectory with a Focus on Investment and Environmental Sustainability

LONDON, January 18. /«Dunyo» IA/. The popular British news outlet London Post has published an article examining the implementation of “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy and its ongoing update, «Dunyo» IA’s correspondent reports.

According to the publication, the strategy adopted in 2023 is entering a new phase. Based on the results achieved in 2023–2025, the government is preparing an updated framework of indicators for 2026–2030, placing greater emphasis on measurability and accountability.

In recent years, reforms have already delivered tangible results. The poverty rate has declined from 11 percent to 6.8 percent, GDP has grown to USD 140 billion, and foreign investment inflows have more than doubled to USD 42 billion. Unemployment has decreased, while exports and tourist arrivals have increased significantly.

The “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy is built around five key priorities: sustainable economic growth, human capital development, green development, modern public governance, and safeguarding security and sovereignty. In the economic sphere, targets include raising per capita income above USD 5,000, reducing inflation to 5–6 percent, and keeping public debt below 50 percent of GDP. Particular attention is given to private sector development, banking sector reform, and boosting productivity in agriculture.

A separate pillar focuses on education and human capital, encompassing the expansion of higher education, international partnerships, the development of scientific research, and improvements to school and university infrastructure. The environmental agenda includes large-scale greening initiatives, the restoration of the Aral Sea region, and an accelerated transition to renewable energy sources, whose share is expected to exceed 50 percent by 2030.

The article highlights that a central element of the strategy is the creation of a “state that serves its citizens” through the digitalization of public services, strengthening the role of mahallas, and enhancing transparency in governance. At the same time, strong emphasis is placed on the digital economy and the IT sector, including the development of artificial intelligence and increasing IT services exports to USD 5 billion.

The updated implementation model of the strategy provides for clear KPIs, digital monitoring of progress, and personal accountability of government officials, alongside regular public reporting. The authorities emphasize that “Uzbekistan–2030” is not merely a declarative document, but a practical roadmap open to international partnership and investment.
