DOHA, March 5. /Dunyo IA/.  Uzbek diplomats in Doha have stepped up efforts to support their citizens in Qatar, providing practical assistance and up-to-date information to compatriots staying in the country for various reasons, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

On March 4, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Qatar visited Uzbek nationals across several locations in the Qatari capital as part of ongoing consular outreach aimed at ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

During the visit, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ashraf Khodjaev, travelled to Doha Port, where he met with 71 Uzbek citizens currently on board the cruise vessel operated by “Celestine Cruises”. At the meeting, the ambassador provided detailed briefings on the evolving situation and the measures being undertaken to support nationals abroad.

According to the embassy, Government of Uzbekistan, in coordination with relevant authorities in Qatar, is working on mechanisms to ensure the safety of Uzbek citizens and facilitate their return home, depending on further developments.

Separately, in coordination with the Qatar Tourism authority, 91 Uzbek citizens have been provided with appropriate accommodation.

Diplomatic staff also visited several hotels across the capital - including “Grand Regal” Hotel Doha, “Hampton” by Hilton Doha Old Town, “Jouri Al Murwab” Hotel and “Retaj Al Rayyan” Hotel - where they gathered verified information about Uzbek nationals temporarily staying there and compiled updated lists to facilitate coordinated assistance.

At present, the airspace of Qatar remains closed. Foreign tourists currently in the country are awaiting further official information from the authorities.
