“Oman Observer”: Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Oman expands through new transport corridors

MUSCAT, June 21. /Dunyo IA/.    Omani newspaper “Oman Observer” has published an article by the renowned economic analyst Yousuf bin Hamed al Balushi, dedicated to the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Oman, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that amid the transformation of the global economy and the restructuring of global logistics chains, Oman and Uzbekistan are becoming critical hubs in the formation of new multimodal transport corridors connecting East and West, as well as South and Central Asia.

The author highlighted the agreements reached within the framework of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, emphasizing that the further development of Uzbekistan's transit potential unlocks new economic opportunities for Middle Eastern nations, particularly the Gulf States.

Yousuf bin Hamed al Balushi paid special attention to the strategic significance of the transport corridor within the framework of the Ashgabat Agreement (Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Oman). According to him, this route provides Central Asian states with the shortest and safest access to global markets, the Indian Ocean, and East African countries via Oman's major seaports of Sohar and Duqm.

The economic analyst also noted the importance of the institutional foundation governing bilateral relations. The article underscores that investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Oman - particularly the operations of the “UzOman” joint investment company - plays the role of a vital financial bridge, securing the funding of strategic projects in the fields of agriculture, logistics, chemical industry and high technologies within Uzbekistan.

In conclusion, the author noted that the economic diversification reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan, alongside the nation's efforts to join the World Trade Organization, create a secure and predictable investment environment for foreign investors, including the business circles of Oman.
