ISLAMABAD, July 28. /Dunyo IA/. An analytical article dedicated to trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan has been published in the Pakistani newspaper “Pakistan In the World”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“Today, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are united not only by a shared border and historical and cultural affinity. A common economic space is gradually taking shape, based on mutual trade, industrial cooperation, joint investments, as well as direct ties between entrepreneurs and regions”, the publication notes at the outset.

Changes in bilateral relations are most clearly reflected in the dynamics of trade turnover. Compared to 2016, the volume of mutual trade between the two countries has increased more than sevenfold. At the same time, Uzbekistan’s exports have grown more than sixfold, while imports from Kyrgyzstan have increased more than nine fold, demonstrating stable growth in trade flows in both directions.

It is noted that in 2025, the volume of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan reached nearly $1.2 billion, increasing by 37 percent over the year.

According to the publication, the second important factor driving the development of economic cooperation between the two countries is investment and industrial cooperation.

“In particular, while in 2016 there were only 49 enterprises operating in Uzbekistan with Kyrgyz capital participation, by the end of 2025 their number had reached 344, increasing sevenfold. As of July 1^st, 2026, the number of such enterprises had already reached 374. An important mechanism in this area is the Uzbek–Kyrgyz Development Fund established in 2021”, newspaper writes.

Article also notes that a number of joint ventures have been launched in recent years. In particular, readers are informed about the opening of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek joint automotive enterprise “Tulpar Motors” in the Chuy Region.

Furthermore, article reports on the implementation of joint projects in the textile industry, production of household appliances, plastic and aluminium profiles, construction materials and other areas. The implementation of major infrastructure projects, such as the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway and the 1.9 GW Kambar-Ata-1 Hydropower Plant, has also begun.
