ТАSHKENT, July 4. /Dunyo IA/. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the development work carried out in Uzgаrish mahalla of Sergeli district, as well as the activities of the trade and service facilities established beneath the elevated metro line, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our State, consistent reforms aimed at safeguarding people’s interests and improving public well-being are now clearly evident in the appearance of mahallas and in people’s daily lives.
Uzgаrish mahalla is a vivid example of such transformation. It has 45 apartment buildings comprising 1,620 flats, housing more than 6,700 residents.
Long-standing problems that had accumulated over many years have been addressed in stages, and modern infrastructure and a comfortable social environment have been created. In particular, 10 children’s playgrounds, a mini-football pitch, and two wellness zones have been built.
Head of State reviewed the activities of the modern cogeneration center established in the mahalla.
The center will help ensure a stable supply of heat and electricity to the mahalla during the autumn and winter. Cogeneration technology first generates electricity from natural gas and then uses the resulting heat to warm water and heat homes. This improves energy efficiency and reduces losses.
The total cost of the project was $5.8 million. The center is equipped with modern German-made gas-piston units and boilers. Its annual production capacity is 18.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 80,000 gigacalories of thermal energy.
As part of the project, a two-kilometer high-voltage power line connected to the general grid was constructed. As a result, the load on the district’s central power grid has been reduced by 3 percent. The center’s commissioning has created 10 permanent jobs.
At the same time, the mahalla’s infrastructure has been fully modernized. A total of 1.4 kilometers of pedestrian walkways have been built, the façades of 12 apartment buildings have been renovated, and internal roads have been asphalted. In addition, 2,720 ornamental trees and shrubs have been planted to landscape the area.
President held a warm conversation with representatives of the “mahalla of seven” and local activists. It was noted that the changes implemented here resulted from efforts to create decent living conditions for people and to transform the mahalla into a well-maintained, safe environment.
“Our large-scale development work began in this very Sergeli district. It is no secret that when we proposed building a modern metro line here, some doubted the prospects of this major project.
However, today, seeing such beautiful, well-maintained areas and, most importantly, the satisfied faces of our dear compatriots, we are once again convinced that the path we chose was the right one.
The purpose of our visit today is to speak with you directly and hear about your proposals and initiatives”, - President said.
Head of State also reviewed the activities of trade and service facilities established under the elevated metro line running through Sergeli district.
In modern urban development, it is important to make efficient use of existing infrastructure and to transform unused areas into comfortable, economically productive spaces for residents. To this end, a 5.7-hectare area beneath the elevated metro line was fully redeveloped.
A total of 137 businesses have been established here, creating 250 new jobs. Four kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths, two children’s playgrounds, and sports zones have been developed beneath the metro line. In addition, 100 benches and 40 modern decorative lights have been installed to provide residents with recreational spaces.
