Officials discuss key issues affecting Uzbek nationals in Krasnodar

KRASNODAR, March 4. /Dunyo IA/. Burkhan Aliqulov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don, held a meeting with Olga Shalimova, Head of the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Krasnodar, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the dialogue, the diplomats discussed the protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens and prospects for bilateral cooperation. The Consul General of Uzbekistan paid special attention to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots engaged in temporary labour activities or staying in the Krasnodar krai for various purposes.
An exchange of views also took place regarding the acceleration of the repatriation process for Uzbek citizens held in temporary detention centers for foreign nationals. It was noted that the Consulate General has received a significant number of appeals concerning the detention of compatriots beyond the legally established periods; specific information was provided for each such case.
The Russian side stated it would review these circumstances and added its readiness to assist Uzbek citizens in ensuring their legal stay and protecting their rights within the territory.
The meeting participants also discussed interregional cooperation, noting the ample opportunities for further strengthening ties. In turn, the Russian side provided information on the region's economic potential, adding that it specializes primarily in tourism, construction, and agriculture.
The parties agreed to organize reciprocal visits of business delegations to implement cooperation agreements signed between the Syrdarya and Andijan regions and the Krasnodar krai, as well as the action plan developed based on these agreements.
